Happy Mother's Day Again...Happy Mother's Day, Again?!
How do I even say this without sounding silly? I'll take my chances...
See, my brain has been on overdrive since I first sneaked online during chuch service today and saw people posting Happy Mother's Day all over the social media- again.
Fellow earthlings, please how many Mother's Day celebrations do we have in a year sef? Are celebrations such as this not supposed to be one-of-a-kind and very special? At this rate, the next Mother's day will be met with eye rolls and sighs.
Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate mothers, my mothers especially (yes, I'm privileged to have more than one mother- and my father isn't polygamous by the way), and that is why I'm concerned, because I'm afraid too many Mother's Days in one year will do nothing but trivialize the real essence of the celebration/appreciation day.
And I've heard people argue that the multiple dates is so because different countries have different dates for appreciating mothers. If this is the case, how come we are able to reach a global consensus on the singular day in a year to appreciate the fathers? Abi why is it women's own that is always different?
I mean, I know we are to show love and appreciation to our parents every day but if we must choose a day to honour them as a society, then let's go all out and do it, and then find other worthwhile causes to publicize and appreciate for the remaining part of the year.
I'm suggesting Firstborn's Day, Only Girl Child of the Family's Day, First Grandchild of the Family's Day. Detractors will say it's because all those terms describe me, but please my fellow firstborn children and co, are these not worthy causes?🤷🏾😅😁
But I digress...
See folks, I'm already even beginning to think this multiple mothers' appreciation day is a covert political agenda of a chauvinist government to hackney the idea of the importance of mothers (females in essence) in the society.
Chocolate lovers will be able to relate more to this: think about how eating too much chocolates makes you want to puke, and boom- chocolate loses it's appeal.
Again, I'm not out to begrudge mothers their appreciation day, I'm just here to protest the very likely effect of its overkill.
I hope I have made a bit of common sense, but just in case I haven't, don't forget what I told you earlier about my brain... It's been overheating since morning.🤣🤣
