Church Palaver

Wait, what's it with people and boundary crossing with unsolicited advice? I type this post 25% irritated and 75% amused as I remember my encounter with an elderly woman in the middle of church service yesterday.

The preacher, after his sermon, had asked that those who would like to rededicate their lives to Jesus raise their hands and bow in prayer while still seated. This woman (seated right behind me) actually reached for my raised right hand, pushing it up higher and telling me there was nothing to be ashamed of about responding to an altar call.

Story of my life.

And wasn't her heart supposed to be bowed to God in prayer too?

I fear for us christians. I pray we don't get too busy preparing others for their journey to heaven that we ourselves miss the bus!
